Steps in Availing the Food Stamps Alabama Program
The application for the Food stamps Alabama program is easy.
STEP 1: Fill out an application form wherein you must provide your name, address and signature. For emergency cases like people with no money to buy food, they may be able to avail the emergency food stamp benefits in 5-7 days but they need to answer important questions which can be determined by the check marks.
STEP 2: After filling up the application form, the person will now be submitting the form in the local food stamp office and will just wait for a scheduled interview with a food stamp worker wherein additional information will be asked.
STEP 3: Before the interview make sure that all your requirements are complete like the proof of income and identification card plus rent receipts, bills and pay check stubs. Remember that no proof means no benefits received.
STEP 4: Once the application is approved, the person may now use the allowed amount of money to buy any consumable food that is not hot at the time of purchase meaning the food is not yet prepared and a list of allowed food with information about nutrition and meal planning will be given. Plus cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and pet foods are not covered by the benefit. There are many grocery stores that are participating in the Alabama Food Stamps Program so the benefactor will not have to worry on where to buy the food they need using their stamps.
Emergency Food Stamps – Alabama Food Stamps
In emergency cases where the person have less than $150 monthly gross income and $100 for liquid resources or member of the household is a seasonal farmer or migrant or mortgage bills and utilities are more than their household’s income then they are eligible for emergency or expedited food stamps. Usually, the normal processing of application will take up to 30 days but for the emergency cases it will take up to 5-7 days before they receive the stamps.
