HELP FOR SINGLE MOTHERS IN TEXAS

HELP FOR SINGLE MOTHERS IN TEXAS

Single mothers in Texas are always thinking big for their families just like what all other parents do.  But with the only income to support them, single parents find it hard to make both ends meet and provide their children and the family as a whole, with the things they need.  In difficult times like this, help for single mothers in Texas are sponsored by the state to help them a little on their difficult situation.

Resources and programs for help for single mothers in Texas

Childcare

The most difficult situation single mothers encounter is not to find a good paying job or not keeping their found job for the reason that they cannot leave their children behind, as they do not have anyone to care for them.  A childcare subsidy through the Workforce Development Boards of Texas is created as a help for single mothers in Texas which options are available and can be viewed at http://www.twc.state.tx.us/svcs/childcare/.  This assistance is income-based, for parents with children below 13 years old and to anyone, including single mothers, who need quality childcare so they will have the chance to get a job.

Healthcare

Medicaid program is also offered in Texas.  Like what is offered in all other states, the Medicaid program is for low-income families which need help for paying their health coverage.  Single mothers who do not qualify for this program have the Children’s Health Insurance program which provides children’s coverage.  The program is too good as it also offers eye and dental care in addition to medical care.  Know more information about this offer at http://www.chipmedicaid.com/.

Food and Supplies

Texas extends little help to some families because the government feels the need to do so.  And help for single mothers in Texas are considered by the state to help everyone buy the needed food and supplies for everyday living.  Thus, several programs are extended such as the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to help single mothers attain self-sufficiency thru the cash benefits given.  The SNAP food benefit program is also another help extended to allow single mothers buy food.  For expecting mothers and those who have children below the age of 5, they are eligible to get food aid from the WIC.

Transportation

In Texas large cities, an option for public transportation is available which single mothers can take advantage of, that is, if they don’t own a car or have no reliable means of transportation.  But for those parents residing in rural areas with no public transport available, they can have carpooling arrangement with neighbors or friends who owns a car in consideration with some money for gas.

Rent Assistance

Texas and HUD work hand in hand to help single mothers find means to keep a place they can call home.  Several programs that the government set out as help for single mothers in Texas include the subsidized apartments, the housing choice voucher program and the public housing options.

College Grants

College education is one of the important thrusts of the government of Texas.  The very reason why the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has come up with programs and resources to help needy and potential students, including the single mothers, to seek financial aid that are suitable for them should they desire to further their studies.  These resources can well be viewed and information on this program can be read at http://www.collegefortexans.com/.
