How to go about dating a single mom? (Get dating a single mom)

Finally, your stubborn mind started fantasizing about an attractive woman. You are all keen to take your relationship one step further, only to realize that your Ms. Right is a single mom. You suddenly recognize the fact that you are dealing with a lady who has already created a life for herself and her kids, and it would be extremely difficult for you to make way into their lives. Unless you think that you will be able to clear all the roadblocks on the way, you can’t hope for the good. Besides hoping against the odds, you need to possess the following virtues- patience, respect and great understanding. Now, let’s take a look at some pointers that can help you go about having a successful date with a single mom.

Don’t fake
Goes without saying, if you are really keen on having a long lasting relationship, then you can’t afford to fake everything about yourself. It makes no sense to be pretentious, and then end up on a bad note. That being said, it’s obvious for a person to hide a few negative things at the start of a relationship, but that doesn’t mean that you should be portraying a drastically different image from what you really are.
Start off with low cost dates
Instead of showing that you are a flamboyant personality with wallet full of cash, be timid with your expenses. Most single moms wouldn’t appreciate expensive dates as they are left with very little budget in hand, considering the fact that are engulfed with the responsibility of raising their kids. While you can offer to pay, she might refuse your offer. If you would still like to spend lavishly, then consider making the payment in advance.

“Ex” Relationship

Breakups are always bitter. Don’t pester your date with questions about her ex. She might feel uncomfortable, and you guys won’t be able to enjoy the time spent together. Unless she wants to talk about it voluntarily in order to find some relief at heart, don’t commit the mistake of poking your nose into such bitter conversations.

Understand her priorities

Remember, the primary concern of a single mom is her kids. If it hadn’t been for you, she might have been focusing on them. Perhaps, you have been a distracting factor for her. That being said, you can’t expect to have priority over her kids. Kids will always remain her first priority and that shouldn’t offend you, especially when she cancels a date to attend a school meeting or any other activity pertaining to her kids.
As such, most moms would wait for several months before introducing their kids to a boyfriend. Look for ways to have fun with the kids as well, instead of sidelining them. At the end of the day, take your time and build the relationship steadily. Remember, “Slow and steady wins the race”.
