Chinese students
and scholars comprise one of the largest international groups
at the University of Michigan. Their association is non-profit,
volunteer-based, and dedicated to enhance mutual assistance, life
enjoyment, and sense of community among individual members. The
other mission of UM-CSSA is to introduce and promote the awareness
and appreciation of Chinese culture and modern China to the Ann
Arbor communities, thus to help enrich the campus diversity that
this school has very much uplifted.
The Executive Committee, led
by the CSSA president, operates routinely to provide a variety
of activities and services to the benefits and welfare of UM Chinese
students, scholars, and their families. The Council of Representatives,
independent of the Executive Committee, serves as an effective
vehicle to monitor CSSA financial affairs and to channel voices
from members. The Advisory Board strategically offers recommendations
toward CSSA's sustainable development. On a single solid ground,
the three bodies work together to make the UM Chinese community
outstanding.
